Devil Suit |
| Inventor: | Dan Cassidy (with some electrical assistance from Larry Bolatinsky) |
| First Appearance: | FURY OF FIRESTORM No. 24 |
Hired to do special effects and stuntwork on the newest Marla Bloom production, "Blue Devil," Dan invented an incredibly complex costume which would handle a lot of the more difficult stunts with relative ease, as well as do a few other things just for fun, I guess. When he became stuck inside the Blue Devil suit, the mechanisms remained the same but the latex, kevlar and what have you became organic and everything was fused at the molecular level. In essence, the suit became Dan.
In case you can't read the diagram (sorry, I had to make it small to save space), here are the functions of the Blue Devil suit as described in the Summer Fun Annual. 1 through 7 pertain to the bottom left drawing and move in a counter-clockwise direction. 8 through 13 pertain to the top drawing starting at the shoulder and moving counter-clockwise.
Dan created the trident mainly to give himself the ability of flight, but it can also be used as a deadly weapon, among other things. Blue Devil has been known to fire the rocket engines at his enemies in order to score a K.O., or at least a knock down, and that seems to work pretty well. In addition, he can create all sorts of neat special effects with the trident such as a rising flame pillar which, while rarely harming an opponent, can greatly confuse one.
For a time, Blue Devil's Trident was infused with mystical energy as a result of Nebiros's tampering and could perform slightly more real special effects--effects that could potentially kill a normal person, or even hyper-normal person. Anyway, here are the specs, from the top to the bottom of the trident.
I'm sure I've seen the trident do other things, but I can't recall anything off the top of my head. It might be useful to note here that the trident can support the weight of at least two people in its rocket function and can travel at speeds upwards of sixty miles per hour.
