Dr. Jenet Klyburn
|Profession:||Chief Administrator of S.T.A.R. Labs, Metropolis Branch|
|First Appearance:||SUPERMAN No. 304 (vol. 1)|
According to WHO'S WHO (1986), Dr. Jenet Klyburn came to be chief administrator of Scientific and Technological Advanced Research (S.T.A.R.) Labs after the departure of a Dr. Albert Michaels, who was found out to be an agent of Skull (and later to become the super-villain the Atomic Skull). When she first appeared in the Blue Devil's book in BLUE DEVIL No. 2, she enlisted the help of our reluctant hero in order to stop the villain Shockwave, who broke into the radiation section at the lab and purloined a "form of highly concentrated, 'super' kryptonite". For perhaps obvious reasons, Dr. Klyburn could not entreat Superman to help for fear of him discovering what S.T.A.R. Labs had been up to. After a slobbernocker of a fight sequence in which it appeared that Shockwave might in fact have the upper hand, Shockwave's getaway flying saucer arrived to beam him up, but not before the Blue Devil managed to retrieve the burgled super-k.
Grateful, Dr. Klyburn told the Blue Devil that if there were ever anything S.T.A.R. Labs could do for him, he need but name it. Quickly offering a rejoinder, he requested her assistance in removing the costume that had grafted itself to his body. They drove back to the lab together immediately. Thus began the Blue Devil's unofficial role as hero on call for S.T.A.R. Labs. (Yes, that is a coloring mistake in issue 2 on Klyburn's hair color.)
